Because this recco is based on an incredibly inspiring and hard-hitting true story of survival and a tale of enduring human spirit. We are talking about a Spanish film called ‘Society of the Snow’, which has recently started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform.
‘Society of the Snow’ narrates the incredible tale of the survivors of the 1972 plane crash which happened in the Andes while transporting a Rugby team to Chile. How these passengers hoped against all odds and fought for their lives while navigating their way back home, forms the film’s crux. But in order to survive, they must withstand an extremely hostile environment and take some difficult decisions to stay alive.
‘Society of the Snow’ is ‘Certified Fresh’ and currently holds an impressive 89% critics’ score on reviews aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. The film is Spain’s official Oscar entry for the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category and was included in the top fifteen shortlisted films list by the Academy.
Although ‘Society of the Snow’ is a must-watch for all movie buffs irrespective of their genre likings, it might not be suitable for the weak-hearted because of the hard-hitting and gut-wrenching story.
