The weekend is here, and we are back again with another binge-watch recommendation. This underrated gem is for diehard fans of the supernatural / horror genre. This film has a runtime of just under one hour (56 minutes to be precise). So, even if you are short on time, you can still watch the film. We’re talking about the 2020 computer screen horror movie ‘Host’, which is currently streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform
Directed by Rob Savage, the British indie horror flick ‘Host’ takes place during the COVID-19 lockdown period and is set in the UK. The film’s plot follows a group of friends Haley, Jemma, Emma, Caroline, Radina, and Teddy, who participate in a virtual séance over a Zoom meeting, which goes horribly wrong. They get more than what they had bargained for, after a demonic supernatural entity is unleashed and begins to assault them in their own homes during the course of the online Zoom meeting.
Made on a shoestring budget, the underappreciated yet terrific movie has got the coveted ‘certified fresh’ status on Rotten Tomatoes with 100% critics score based on 94 reviews. The overall feel and horror quotient of the film will somewhat remind you of another low budget and now cult film – Oren Peli’s ‘Paranormal Activity’ (2007).
We highly recommend you watch ‘Host’ on Amazon Prime Video, particularly for horror genre fans. But considering the film’s genre and treatment, try to watch ‘Host’ alone in a dark room with your headphones on, to achieve maximum effect and to enjoy it to the fullest. But watch it at your own risk!
