This Indian Film Bags Two Top Awards at the Indo German Film Week

The ninth edition of the IndoGerman Filmweek that commenced on 25th September, had concluded recently in Berlin’s Babylon – the popular hub for the exhibition of film festivals. Under the ambit of this year festival’s dominant theme of society’s daily struggle was screened an Indian film namely ‘Raahgir – The Wayfarers’ featuring proficient performers Adil Hussain, Tillotama Shome, and Neeraj Kabi.

Helmed by veteran Indian filmmaker Goutam Ghose, ‘Raahgir – The Wayfarers’ has won two top awards at the festival. The first win is for the ‘Best Feature Film’ category. While its second award was for the ‘Best Female Actor’ category. The latter was won by ‘Sir’ and ‘A Death in the Gunj’ actress Tilllotama Shome. It was the opening film at the festival on 23rd September 2021.

Raahgir – The Wayfarers’ follows the arduous journey of two impoverished strangers Nathuni (Tillotama Shome) and Lakhua (Adil Hussain). During their journey, they meet another man Chopatlal (Neeraj Kabi), who is transporting a dying couple to the hospital. Nathuni and Lakhua risk their own lives to help the man. The emotional story’s crux is that how the three protagonists develop a unique bond and how a selfless act of kindness reinstates our faith in humanity.

Prior to its screening at the IndoGerman Filmweek 2021, ‘Raahgir – The Wayfarers’ had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in 2019 besides also being subsequently screened in its Indian premiere at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in the same year.

The internationally acclaimed film had previously won the ‘Best Female Actor’ and ‘Best Director’ awards at the UK Asian Film Festival 2021 in addition to garnering immense praise at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, CinemAsia Film Festival, and the International Film Festival of Kerala.
