The year 2021 has, until now, witnessed many Indian web series releases on various OTT platforms. Some of the popular titles include Raj & DK’s deftly executed ‘The Family Man Season 2’ on Amazon Prime Video, Tamannaah Bhatia starrer crime thriller show ‘November Story’ on Disney+ Hotstar, the heartwarming family drama ‘Gullak Season 2’ on SonyLIV, and the most recent web series ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’ on Amazon Prime Video.
However, despite the audiences’ appreciation and critical acclaim for the aforementioned shows, one Indian web series from the year 2021 (not mentioned above) has outranked these shows on the coveted top 250 International TV shows list on IMDb. The name of the show is the TVF original series ‘Aspirants’.
Although ‘Aspirants’ is undeniably a beautifully made series, nevertheless, many of you might find it surprising that ‘Aspirants’ was able to outrank the commendable, multiple Emmy award winner miniseries ‘Mare of Easttown’ featuring Oscar winner Kate Winslet. In fact, ‘Mare of Easttown’ is surprisingly the least ranked show from 2021 amongst these five shows.
Here is the list of the five shows from 2021 that are on the IMDb top-rated TV shows list listed according to their current ranks:
5. Mare of Easttown (American)
Streaming on: Disney+ Hotstar
4. It’s a Sin (British)
Streaming on: HBO Max
3. Aspirants (Indian)
Streaming on: TVF YouTube
2. Invincible (American)
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video
1. Clarkson’s Farm (British)
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video
So, as you can observe here that the Indian web series ‘Aspirants’ is currently on the third spot (as per IMDb ranking) amongst the IMDb top rated five shows from the year 2021. ‘Mare of Easttown’ presently ranks fifth on this list as per the current IMDb rankings. It’s indeed delightful news that ‘Aspirants’ has become the only Indian show from 2021 that has made it to the coveted international listicle.
