Disney+ Echo series lead, Alaqua Cox, has opened up about what she wants to see in Season 2. Echo has emerged as one of the most divisive shows in the history of Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the series received praise for its performances, action sequences, and the representation of the popular deaf Native American superhero, it also faced criticisms for its slow pace, underwhelming finale, and questionable plot lines.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Cox talked about what she wanted to witness in Echo Season 2.
“I’d like more of Maya’s family. I wouldn’t mind if they went to New York City and all got revenge on those people that have hurt them and also used the powers of their ancestors that they have. I think that’d be a cool storyline. And the Green Goblin. That would be pretty cool. I think I’d like to face the Green Goblin,” Cox said.
In addition, Alaqua Cox also spoke about the odds of Echo finding a place in the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ series or crossing paths with other Avengers in future. “I’d like to see any of those possibilities.”
Given how Echo Season 1 culminated, it is clear that Maya’s feud with Kingpin is far from over. The former may return to NYC to take down Kingpin for good via the ‘Born Again’ series. She may aid Matt Murdock in weakening Wilson Fisk’s efforts of becoming the city’s mayor. Echo’s presence in Born Again could give the show a whole new dynamic.
Although, it is not clear if Marvel Studios has plans for Echo Season 2, given how the first season performed. Season 1 could have been outstanding. However, its messy storyline spoiled the show for many. Echo attempted to squeeze two different stories in five episodes in Season 1. The first story explored Maya’s complicated relationship with Wilson Fisk. Whereas, the second one dug deeper into Maya’s Chocktaw heritage. This particular storyline also explored the magical abilities she inherited from her skilled and powerful ancestors. These two stories sound intriguing. However, they were way too different from each other – a scenario that hindered Season 1’s potential for greatness.
Marvel Studios has not yet officially greenlighted Echo Season 2. Let’s see what happens. Stay tuned for more updates.
