This Is What MCU’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Series Really Needs

Netflix’s Daredevil series (now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar for Indian viewers) is considered one of the best superhero shows ever. However, its successor, MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again series, has endured a big creative overhaul. This scenario naturally looks alarming as the overall situation may compromise the show’s quality. But it also gives a chance to Kevin Feige and his team to undo their mistakes with the next Daredevil project and make it as compelling as Netflix’s original series.

The recent ‘Born Again’ blunder from writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman has forced Marvel to change its entire strategy regarding the production and release of TV shows, and overhaul Born Again’s production. The majority of MCU fans have supported the studio’s decision, considering how She-Hulk and Secret Invasion turned out.

While tackling all the difficulties, Marvel Studios should not forget the ‘real reason’ that made Netflix’s Daredevil a memorable superhero TV drama. The show had lots of bloody, physical, and brilliantly choreographed action sequences. But what made it special was its execution as a deeply personal character drama. All characters had amazing character arcs. And the show benefitted from numerous hard-hitting dramatic moments, especially the ones between Kingpin and Daredevil. The intensity behind these dramatic moments also made the show’s violent moments highly impactful. In other words, we can say that the original series was a perfectly balanced superhero project.

Improving Born Again’s dramatic moments should not be a problem for Marvel Studios, considering the production house’s excellent track record in this scenario. However, fans are concerned about the protagonist’s character arc. Charlie Cox’s return as Daredevil in the She-Hulk series was supposed to be an iconic moment. Instead, his return felt like a desperate attempt from Marvel to save the Tatiana Maslany starrer. In some scenes, poor Charlie Cox was even used as a laughing stock.

Let’s see how Marvel handles this situation. Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again series may come out in January 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
