If you loved ‘Maharaja’ and ‘Raayan’, then you will definitely be left in awe after watching this Kannada film. We are talking about the 2021 film ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana’ helmed by Raj B. Shetty who also stars in the lead role alongside Rishabh Shetty (‘Kantara’) in the film.
Set in Mangaladevi, a coastal and cultural town of modern day Mangaluru, ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana’ follows the story of childhood friends, Shiva and Hari, who were initially inseparable and grow up to become the most feared gangsters of the town. But the greed for power and politics starts to get in between them and ruins their bond for the worst.
This gangster drama basically reinvents the genre with its raw, mythologically driven storytelling and explosive action. The film’s title refers to Vishnu aka Hari (Garuda Gamana, the one who travels on Garuda) and Shiva (Vrishabha Vahana, one whose ride is Nandi or Vrishabha). Also, there’s one other important character in the film that goes by the name of Brahmaiyya who represents Brahma of the divine Hindu Trinity.
The performances by Raj B. Shetty and Rishabh Shetty are top notch, the gripping symbolism is unmissable, couple it all up with a chilling score and you get the masterpiece that is ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana’.
The film has received huge praises not just from critics and public but also from famous celebrities who applauded it for its direction, story and technical aspects. Moreover, Gautham Vasudev Menon has even acquired the Telugu and Tamil remake rights of the film.
