Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Film) chart witnesses an unexpected thriller earning the number one spot (March 25 – 31). We are talking about ‘Heart of the Hunter’. Despite receiving mixed reception from critics and viewers, the film surprised everyone and ranked #1 on the streaming platform’s Global Top 10 chart.
As of March 31, Heart of the Hunter was in the number one spot, with over 11 million views and collecting more than 19.7 million hours of viewing. The film joins the list of thrillers that have recently become quite popular on Netflix despite earning a mediocre response from critics and audiences. Ben Affleck’s The Accountant ranks fourth on the Global Top 10 list, with over 6.2 million views. It was a decent box office success but earned a mixed response from critics during its theatrical release.
Another popular thriller present on the list right now is The Equalizer 3. This Denzel Washington starrer is undoubtedly better than its predecessors, apart from being a box-office success. Yet, it is far from being called a cinematic masterpiece. Mel Gibson’s On the Line is another thriller that has seeped through and somehow managed to find a spot on the list. Despite having a 50% audience score and a 21% ‘rotten’ critic score, On the Line has earned over 3.8 million views within two weeks of its release on Netflix.
These movies prove that the thriller genre has gained significant attention from Netflix’s subscribers in recent times. As for Heart of the Hunter, the film does have an original story and benefits from gripping acting performances.
