Thrillers are an all time favourite for many and the ones with a psychological angle make it super interesting. Our today’s recommendation is one such psychological thriller drama on Netflix that is full of twists.
We are talking about the 2019 film ‘Fractured’ on Netflix from director Brad Anderson with a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy. Anderson is known for his works like Christian Bale starrer ‘The Machinist’, ‘The Call’ and more. He has also served as one of the director and producer for sci-fi series ‘Fringe’.
In ‘Fractured’, Ray Monroe (Sam Worthington) and his wife, Joanne (Lily Rabe), are arguing on a drive home when their daughter, Peri (Lucy Capri), interrupts them from the back seat, needing a bathroom break and new batteries for her music player. The family stops at a gas station, and while her parents are distracted, Peri wanders over to a deserted construction site with a large exposed pit.
Suddenly, a stray dog shows up and threatens to attack. By this time, Ray has found his daughter, but when he attempts to scare the dog away by throwing a rock, Peri falls backward into the hole. Trying to grab Peri, Ray falls in too and hits his head. When he comes to, he decides to take Peri to get checked out at a hospital they passed a few miles back. Dr. Berthram (Stephen Tobolowsky) decides Peri needs a CAT scan and sends mother and daughter downstairs for the procedure, while Ray is asked to remain in the waiting area, where he soon falls asleep. When Ray wakes up, not only has his family still not returned, but the hospital has absolutely no record of them.
With such an interesting premise one instantly gets hooked to know what is actually happening. Is something wrong with Ray or is there something more sinister at play.
‘Fractured’ stars Sam Worthington, Lily Rabe, Stephen Tobolowsky, Adjoa Andoh and Lucy Capri in prominent roles. The film is currently streaming on Netflix and if you are looking for something that teases your brains this is the one.
