This New Netflix Horror Film Scored An Almost 100% On Rotten Tomatoes!

Netflix has released a bunch of great horror movies on its platform this year. Of these, The Fear Street trilogy, Army Of The Dead and Blood Red Sky were hits on the platform, getting rave reviews from audiences. And now, Netflix has just released an intense, atmospheric horror film this week, which has got critics raving about its highly effective horror.

The movie is “The Old Ways“, which premiered on Netflix on 25th August. The film has racked up good viewing numbers on Netflix USA. It is currently at number six on the Netflix Top Ten in the US. But the most impressive thing about the film is that it has scored a high 95% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, one of the most credible content rating websites in the world. Until a day ago, it was cruising along at a magnificent 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating! It is quite a stupendous achievement for a film not many know about, and which has had zero marketing on Netflix.

Critics have given “The Old Ways” some glowing reviews. One critic on Rotten Tomatoes said, “The Old Ways is the greatest exorcism movie since The Exorcist, do not miss it!”. Another said it is “An outstanding horror film written by Marcos Gabriel and directed by Christopher Alender, that crosses cultural commentary with powerful, creepy tension.” Yet another critic says it “blends supernatural and body horror to bone-crunching effect in The Old Ways, a chilling horror outing that has its roots in Latin-American folklore.”

The fulsome praise showered on “The Old Ways” makes one want to tune in to Netflix and watch it this weekend itself! The film premiered in October 2020 at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain. It was acquired by Netflix for streaming worldwide, and here it is now! The film has been directed by Christopher Alender, and stars Brigitte Kali Canales, Andrea Cortés, Julia Vera, Sal Lopez and AJ Bowen in primary roles.
