This Psychological Sci-Fi Netflix Limited Series Is Weirdly Beautiful

If you just finished watching ‘Severance’ and/or are waiting for the next season of ‘Black Mirror’, you should definitely watch this ten part limited series from Netlfix which  is going to stun you with its trippy visuals and unpredictable storyline.

We are talking ‘Maniac’ (2018) by Patrick Somerville which is loosely based on the 2015 Norwegian show of the same name. Set in a retro-future New York City, the story follows two struggling strangers, played by Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, who connect during a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial that promises to fix everything and involves a doctor with mother issues and an emotionally complex computer.

‘Maniac’ is weird yet beautiful and might confuse you too at times, but that’s not going to stop you from loving it. The enthralling show has striking performances from the lead stars, a narrative that is nothing less than an adventure and visuals that mesmerise.

Also, despite belonging to a psychological sci-fi category, the emotional angle in ‘Maniac’ goes pretty deep. If you are looking for something crisp and mind boggling, do catch ‘Maniac’ on Netflix this weekend.
