Boxing film ‘Creed III’, which belongs to the ‘Rocky’ franchise, was released in theatres on 3rd March. ‘Warrior’ is an action-packed and intense sports drama which features Tom Hardy (Venom, The Revenant) and Joel Edgerton (Thirteen Lives) as two estranged brothers Tommy and Brendan with a common hatred for their alcoholic father (played by Nick Nolte). Tommy, a former marine, and Brendan, a schoolteacher, enlist for a high-profile mixed martial competition (MMA) called Sparta. With drastically different fighting techniques, do the two brothers have it in them to make it to the top of the MMA tournament?
‘Warrior’ currently holds a critics score of 84% and is ‘Certified Fresh’ on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. On movies database portal IMDb, the film has got an impressive user rating of 8.2/10. The film’s underlying brother vs brother theme rather bears a resemblance to Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors’ ‘Creed 3’.
The brilliantly directed film has been helmed by Gavin O’Connor, whose other directorial films also include the Kurt Russel starrer sports film ‘Miracle’ and the action thriller movie ‘The Accountant’ starring Ben Affleck.
