This Underrated Indian Horror Series On Netflix Is A Must-Watch

Netflix was the first international streaming service to come to India way back in January 2016. And since 2018, Netflix has been home to several original Indian series. Some of them became extremely popular while some others didn’t receive the recognition they deserved. Our today’s weekend binge-watch recommendation belongs to the latter category.

We recommend you watch a three-episode horror miniseries which was the second original Indian show to release on the Netflix OTT platform. We’re talking about ‘Ghoul’ and in case you still haven’t seen it for any reason, you should catch it now, especially all the fans of the horror genre. The show was backed by international filmmaker Jason Blum along with Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, amongst others.

Set amidst the backdrop of an authoritarian regime in near future India, ‘Ghoul’ features Radhika Apte as Nida Rahim, a newly enlisted military officer, who is brought in to interrogate a mysterious prisoner in a remote detention facility. However, the goings-on take a deadly turn when the prisoner begins to reveal the darkest secrets of the interrogators, indicating some kind of supernatural presence.

‘Ghoul’ was admired by many critics after its release on Netflix but probably still didn’t get the recognition it deserved, that’s why we are calling it underrated. It holds an impressive critics’ score of 88% on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, on IMDb, the series has got a decent user rating of 7/10. In case you’re still not sure about whether to watch ‘Ghoul’ on Netflix or not, you can watch the show’s trailer below to get a better idea.
