Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Eesho’, ‘Karthikeya 2’, ‘and ‘Maja Ma’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
The Journey of India (Streaming on Discovery+ from 10th October)
The six-part documentary series will be hosted by veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan. It will feature several eminent personalities like Bollywood actress Kajol, veteran actress Hema Malini, author Amish Tripathi, business tycoon Anand Mahindra, and celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor, amongst others. The series will ostensibly focus on how India has kept up with modern times while keeping culture and traditions intact.
Byomkesh Hotyamancha (Streaming on Hoichoi from 14th October)
Based on an incomplete story ‘Bishupal Bodh’ by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay, the film is a murder mystery set against the backdrop of the turbulent Naxalite uprising in Bengal in 1971. Directed by Arindam Sil, the film’s story is about the protagonist Byomkesh Bakshi, who witnesses a complex crime while attending a play in a theatre. It features Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar, and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay in the lead roles.
Mismatched Season-2 (Streaming on Netflix from 14th October)
An adaptation of Sandhya Menon’s bestseller, ‘When Dimple Met Rishi’, the series features Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli as two teens who become friends during a summer program.
Good Bad Girl (Streaming on 14th October on SonyLIV)
Directed by Abhishek Sengupta, the Indian drama web series features Samridhi Dewan in the role of Maya Ahuja. The nine-part series narrates the story of the character in three different timelines – Maya as a little girl, Maya’s life in law school, and Maya’s story after she becomes a lawyer.
Dobaaraa (Streaming on Netflix from 15th October)
Helmed by Anurag Kashyap, the mystery thriller movie is a time-bending drama starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. Inspired by Oriol Paulo’s ‘Mirage’, the film’s premise revolves around two similar storms separated by 25 years and how a woman connects with a 12-year-old boy from the past through a television set.
