This Week’s Top Indian OTT Releases: Trial By Fire & More

Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Taaza Khabar’, ‘Uunchai’, ‘Phone Bhoot’, ‘Mumbai Mafia’, and ‘3Cs’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.

Trial By Fire (Streaming on Netflix from 13th January)

The web series is based on the tragic Uphaar Cinema fire incident which happened in June 1997 in the posh South Delhi area. The story follows Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy (played by Rajshri Deshpande and Abhay Deol), the parents whose two children were unfortunate victims of the tragic incident. The series focuses on how the parents fight for the justice of their kids for around twenty-four long years.

Mukundan Unni Associates (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 13th January)

The dark comedy movie follows the story of a young and ambitious advocate named Mukundan Unni (played by Vineet Sreenivasan), whose area of specialization is accident insurance claims. With no moral boundaries, the lawyer can go to any lengths to become rich and successful.

Veera Simha Reddy (Streaming on Aha Video from 13th January)

Helmed by Gopichand Malineni, the action-drama movie features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the titular role of Veera Simha Reddy, who is portrayed as a well-respected figure in Kurnool. The story is about how a son exacts revenge from those responsible for the death of his father.

Head Bush (Streaming on Zee5 from 13th January)

Based on Agni Sridhar’s autobiography ‘My Days in the Underworld’, the political crime action film features Dhananjaya in the titular role of Jayaraj aka Head Bush. The protagonist is given the opportunity to become the leader of the Indira Brigade, and this creates disruption amongst underworld gang members.

Ballabhpurer Roopkotha (Streaming on Hoichoi from 13th January)

Based on Badal Sarkar’s 1954 play of the same name, the horror comedy movie features Satyam Bhattacharya in the role of Bhupati Ray, an indebted successor of an erstwhile affluent family and the present owner of a decrepit mansion. Circumstances force him to sell the property, but the deal is amusingly interfered by his ancestor’s ghost.

Thattassery Koottam (Streaming on Zee5 from 13th January)

The comedy drama film revolves around the story of a goldsmith’s nephew Sanju (played by Arjun Ashokan), who falls in love with an affluent jeweller’s daughter Athira. But the goings-on take a drastic turn after an unfortunate incident occurs in his life.
