He also desires to marry his paramour Seema who is from Calcutta, but prior to the joining, Ratan loses his appointment letter. The film gave much fame to Kishore Kumar and is one of the essential films of Bimal Roy.
‘Sujata’ stars actors like Nutan, Sunil Dutt and Shashikala in the lead roles and the music is given by S.D. Burman. The film tells the story of castiest prejudices in rural India. Sujata an ‘untouchable’ young girl is brought up by a Brahmin family and she falls in love with a Brahmin man afterwards. The marriange is impossible in the eyes of society and the lovers try to find some way out. This is a must watch if you are a fan of retro romantic movies.
