After the theatrical release of the Malayalam language historical drama movie ‘Thuramukham’ on 10th March, it was revealed that the film will start streaming on the SonyLIV OTT platform after completing its theatrical run. Earlier, the OTT release date was being speculated to be 10th April. However, that didn’t happen.
As per the latest update, ‘Thuramukham’ exact streaming date is out now. The movie will start streaming on SonyLIV from 28th April onwards. So, in case you missed watching it in cinemas, then this is your chance to catch it on OTT later this month.
Helmed by Rajeev Ravi, ‘Thuramukham’ is based on K. M. Chidambaran’s play of the same name. Set in the 1950s period, the film’s plot revolves around how labourers’ union made a desperate effort and protested to change the abhorrent system of giving out work to port labourers through a system called the ‘Chappa’ (tickets) system in Kochi. In this system, labourers were forced to fight against each other in order to get copper tokens for low-paid jobs at the harbour.
The movie features Nivin Pauly in the role of Mattancherry Moidu, an immoral labourer who is recruited for executing violent activities against the trade unions. Besides Nivin Pauly, the movie also features Arjun Ashokan as Moidu’s brother, Darshana Rajendran as his sister, Joju George as the father, and Nimisha Sajayan as his wife.
