Tiger Shroff’s ‘Ganapath’ has well and truly sounded the bugle of battle this afternoon. The upcoming action thriller film has released an explosive first-look poster, along with confirming that it will indeed release on 20th October, 2023 as planned. The poster is one of the best for any Tiger Shroff film by far. The actor looks bold and badass on the poster, amping up fans’ excitement for the film even further.
Going by the confirmation, Ganapath has set up a direct clash with Vijay’s Leo, which is slated to release in theatres on 19th October, 2023. Both films are eyeing the auspicious Dussehra release date, to woo audiences high on the festive mood.
Needless to say, Tiger Shroff’s Ganapath and Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo in theatres at the same time will set up a clash for the ages. Both actors have a humongous and loyal fan base among Indian viewers. Both movies are projected as pan-India films, to release in all five popular languages of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Also, both Ganapath and Leo have an exciting star cast, with a young star and a beloved veteran adding allure to both films. Ganapath has Tiger Shroff leading the young charge, while superstar Amitabh Bachchan adds heft to the cast. Leo has Thalapathy Vijay in the lead, with veteran Sanjay Dutt as the primary antagonist.
Finally, the crew of both Ganapath and Leo consists of gifted and talented artists. Ganapath has music by Ravi Basrur (of the KGF films fame), while Anirudh Ravichander has scored Leo’s music. Ganapath is written and directed by Vikas Bahl (Queen, Super 30). Leo’s writer and director is Lokesh Kanagaraj (Kaithi, Vikram).
With so much going for both Ganapath and Leo, does it make sense to release two much-awaited films in theatres at the same time? It’s obvious both will eat into each other’s business, which is not a good thing for Indian cinema on the whole.
As of now, Leo seems to have the upper hand over Ganapath in the box office stakes. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is the man of the moment, having given Tamil cinema one of its biggest hits in the form of Vikram. Lead actor Vijay is also on a roll, despite his last ‘Beast’ not doing too well. Tiger Shroff, on the other hand, has last delivered a dud in Heropanti 2. Vikas Bahl still hasn’t redeemed himself after the serious sexual assault charges against him.
Looking at all of the above, it does seem like Vijay and Leo will bash up Tiger Shroff and Ganapath at the cinemas.
Rest, time will tell.
