Tilasmi Bahein: Heeramandi’s Second Song Is Expensive Lacklustre!

Beauty is the very essence of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali project. Ever since the man started making films, we have rarely seen anyone touching the level of cinematic beauty as achieved by Bhansali.

But, beauty can be used to support a point. The intensity of Maar Daala doesn’t lie in the elaborate set and eye-freezing costumes, but in the insanely prickly lyrics, crushing music, intoxicating singing and breathtaking dancing.

What is happening in the second song of Heeramandi that is named Tilasmi Bahein?

Usual grand sets, and extravagant costumes but very very average songs. The lyrics are super weak, the music is forgettable and you would probably not bother about singing. There is absolutely no intensity and no fun in the song. It looks as if the makers were themselves confused about the kind of emotion they want to portray in the song.

Sakal Ban was a safe song. The lyrics were by Amir Khusro who is beyond our capability to comment and the music was also traditional. Tilasmi Bahein on the other hand is an original song and it is a disappointment at best.

Heeramandi is a musical costume drama and let’s hope that Tilasmi Bahein is the only weak song from the album. Let’s wait to see what sort of music is still in the bag from Heeramandi.
