‘Baksho Bondi’ (Shadowbox) by Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi is all set for its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival set to take place between February 13 – 23, 2025. ‘Bakshi Bondi’ has been selected in the new Perspectives Competition section of the prestigious film festival.
Set against the backdrop of dusty Kolkata, ‘Baksho Bondi’ follows Maya who discovers that her husband, an ex-soldier suffering from PTSD, is the prime suspect in a murder investigation. She and her teenage son are forced to go to extremes to keep the family together. The film is touted to be a powerful narrative of love, resilience and the quiet strength of a working woman.
Tanushree Das has penned the story and is the editor for ‘Bakshi Bondi’ which she has co-directed with Saumyananda Sahi who is also the film’s script writer and cinematographer.
Been in making for eight years, ‘Baksho Bondi’ stars Tillotama Shome, Chandan Bisht, Sayan Karmakar, and Suman Saha. The film is produced by Naren Chandavarkar, Shaunak Sen, Aman Mann, and Saumyananda Sahi.
Vikramaditya Motwane, Jim Sarbh and Nikkhil Advani serve as the executive producers for ‘Baksho Bondi’ which is co-produced by Tillotama Shome, Dheer Momaya, Siddharth Meer, Dominique Welinski, Isabelle Glachant, Prashant Nair, Anjali Patil, Anu Rangachar, Ishaan Chandhok, and Shruti Ganguly.
