Prime Video is currently streaming Ponniyin Selvan 1. The Mani Ratnam magnum opus is one of the biggest films of the year and was highly celebrated amongst the masses. As the movie was warmly accepted after the theatrical release, people are not much happy with the digital release.
To give you a summary of the events, Ponniyin Selvan 1 was released on Prime Video in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on Store for ₹199. People were unhappy due to two reasons, one was the lack of Hindi audio which is a very legit point to raise.
Second is the release itself. Prime Video is repeatedly milking the likes of KGF Chapter 2, Ponniyin Selvan aka likes of big films for extra money.
The concept of Store is great for those who do not have a regular subscription to Prime Video but why should those people who have purchased a subscription still have to pay for watching the movie?
We realize that Ponniyin Selvan will stream regularly from the 4th of November onwards but currently it is Prime Video itself bearing the attack of people.
This is certainly not a good time for Prime Video as they are going through multiple issues both in terms of content and policies.
We wish that they rethink about their Store and release movies regularly and directly.
