Finally. After months of rumours, “leaks” and teasing, we finally get a look at Chris Pratt’s upcoming action-adventure sci-fi flick ‘Tomorrow War’ – and it didn’t disappoint. The almost 3-minute trailer released on the official YouTube page of Amazon Prime Video, almost half a day ago, but the buzz generating on Twitter has been incredible. There have already been over 5 million views at this point on YouTube alone, so we expect a full blowup in the morning. Check out the adrenaline pumping promo at the end of this article.
Chris Pratt is back, and he is in another action flick. Ever since he transformed his physique for his global-break-out role as Star-Lord in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Avengers’ franchise, he has been offered many different rules which require his new physique for the roles, rather than his comedic chops (‘Passenger’ being one of the few exceptions to this). But you won’t hear us complaining, for he has still been brilliant in his other film roles as well. And this trailer suggests that he will be brilliant in this role too.
The trailer kicks off pretty normal, a father walks into a football-watching party and watched the game with his daughter. And that’s it for the normal part. Cue, flashing light, crazy boom sounds courtesy of the sound-mixer guys and suddenly soldiers are walking out of the light telling the crowd that they are from the future, fighting a war that they are currently losing. They need able-bodied fighters to come and fight for them now so that their future will be secure. That’s the main premise of the movie.
The father, we see earlier, is Dan Forester, a family man and a high-school professor. He is also a war veteran, and when his family gets drafted, he has to be the one to go in their place to enter this war. He is also willing to do so, to save the world for his young daughter. Along the way, he meets some new people and some old friends to join him and the soldiers to take the fight to the invading army.
The VFX is good, the sound is good, dialogue is good. Everything is just good so far. But we know there is a stellar cast involved, so we hope for some greatness and not just the regular sci-fi stuff we have been receiving over the years. With the film expected to stream, instead of coming out in theatres, access to this film is as easy as switching to a channel the day the movie premieres.
Check out ‘Tomorrow War’ on Amazon Prime Video on July 2nd 2021.
