If any Marvel fan were granted a genie and three wishes, one of them would invariably be getting the fourth Spider-Man film with Tobey Maguire, and the stars have seemingly aligned.
In recent updates, speculation suggests that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire might partner up once more to create the greatness that is Spider-Man 4.
After Raimi finished the trilogy in 2007, talks of a fourth installment emerged but were eventually scrapped as the studio opted for a reboot. However, Spider-Man: No Way Home changed the course of history.
Over time, the Spider-Man film franchise has become more convoluted. Sony’s willingness to approve multiple shared universes and reboots increases the possibility of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man universe coexisting with other iterations, potentially leading to a complex cinematic landscape.
Even during an interview, Thomas Haden Church, who portrayed Sandman in the Spider-Man universe, expressed some positivity regarding the production of the film.
“But, you know, I think Sam is gonna do another Spider-Man with Tobey [Maguire], and that’s the one that … They had an option for me to do Spider-Man 4 when there was going to be a Spider-Man 4. They had an option for me to come back. So if it happens, that would be fantastic. I’m getting a little old.”
Though far from an official update, news like this is enough to ignite the interest of the fans. Considering Sony’s current position, they will need to please the fans, especially after Madame Web and Morbius damaged a lot of faith.
