It looks like the Telugu film industry is hoping for a Sankranthi Redemption. Both the Telugu States are yet to open the theaters despite the Central Government allowing it. The industry is not eager to test the waters in 2020 but is hoping things to be normal by Sankranthi 2021. Several films have announced their arrival for Sankranthi release.
Vakeel Saab, Most Eligible Bachelor, Red, Krack, Uppena, Rang De, and others are hoping for the Festival Advantage. Most Eligible Bachelor, Red, and Krack have already announced their plan and more films are likely to join in the coming days. Among these films, Vakeel Saab, Red, Krack, Uppena, and Rang De have indulged in talks with one or more OTT platforms for a direct possible release but dropped the plans now.
They are hoping that things will be back to the Pre-COVID era by Sankranthi with or without the vaccine. As of now, only Sai Dharam Tej’s Solo Brathuke So Better seems to be in contention for a possible direct online release. However, all these hopes will work out only if the Governments allow at least 75% occupancy in the theaters and also if the audience will show interest in coming to the theaters.
