Acclaimed author Stephen King is widely regarded as the ‘King of Horror’ in the literary and cinematic worlds. And his books getting adapted into movies and series is not a new phenomenon in Hollywood. Right from ‘The Shining’, ‘The Mist’, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘It’, ‘Misery’, and ‘The Green Mile’, the list is massive.
And now, the latest Stephen King work to join the above list of adaptations is a project called ‘The Life of Chuck’, which is based on the best-selling author’s short story from the anthology ‘If It Bleeds’. ‘The Life of Chuck’ would feature two popular Hollywood actors Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill in the lead roles.
The underlying plot of ‘The Life of Chuck’ will consist of three different stories which will be connected to Charles Krantz’ biography in reverse order. The film’s story would start with his death because of a brain tumour and end with his childhood days in an apparently haunted house.
‘The Life of Chuck’ will be written and directed by horror specialist filmmaker Mike Flanagan, who has recently helmed two critically acclaimed Netflix supernatural horror shows ‘Midnight Mass’ and ‘The Midnight Club’. This is not the first time Mike Flanagan will be adapting Stephen King’s works for the screen. Previously, he has directed movies like ‘Gerald’s Game’ and ‘Doctor Sleep’ based on Stephen King’s books.
In ‘The Life of Chuck’ adaptation, ‘Loki’ star Tom Hiddleston will essay the titular role while ‘Star Wars’ actor Mark Hamill will play the role of Albie. As per sources, the project would bear tonal resemblance with other Stephen King adaptations like ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘The Green Mile’, and ‘Stand By Me’.
Tom Hiddleston, whose last major role was in the period drama series ‘The Essex Serpent’, is gearing up for the eagerly anticipated second season of the Disney+ Marvel series ‘Loki’. And Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in ‘Star Wars’, will next be seen in an action-comedy movie ‘The Machine’.
