As Farhan Akhtar starrer eagerly anticipated boxing film ‘Toofaan’ is inching closer towards its release date, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to promote their sports-based cinematic venture.
A couple of days back, the makers of ‘Toofaan’ had announced that the film’s trailer would be out at 12:00 PM on June 30, 2021, that is, today. Alongside the announcement, their Twitter posts were accompanied by some motivational quotes in the line with the film’s Rocky-like rags-to-riches story of an underdog.
The first post was marked with the words “Life can’t break you when love holds you together.” While another one said “One punch, one step, one round at a time. That’s how you win.” The next line inclined towards the poetic “Dil mein koi aag phirse jaagi hai, tan mein soya lahu aankhein malta hai, Ik zidd apna rasta dhoond rahi hai, Toofaan jo tham sa gaya tha, phir chalta hai.” While the final one was Yeh #Toofaan rukne wala nahi hai.
Toofaan’s explosive trailer suggests that the film will be high on drama and replete with sports action and heart-warming performances. The trailer reveals an important plot detail that Farhan Akhtar’s character faced a five-year ban from participating in boxing matches and that he was termed as the one who betrayed the ring.
When the ban is lifted, the boxer’s lover motivates him to get back into the ring, but the boxer is for some reason disinterested in making a comeback. The trailer also features some exhilarating training montages, snippets of riveting boxing bouts, and motivational dialogues – all beautifully wrapped inside the film’s emotional storyline.
Helmed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, the story of ‘Toofaan’ revolves around an orphan street goon from Dongri (Farhan Akhtar) who has a change of heart and transforms from Ajju Bhai to Aziz Ali the boxer. He trains under an eminent boxing coach (Paresh Rawal) to achieve his dream of becoming a champion boxer. The film also features Mrunal Thakur as Farhan Akhtar’s love interest.
After the pandemic-induced delay, ‘Toofaan’ is now expected to commence streaming on the Amazon Prime Video platform from July 16, 2021, onwards. And considering the previous critical and commercial success of actor-director’s previous collaboration ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, expectations are sky-high for their forthcoming venture. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the film’s success.
