It’s been a while since we’ve brought you the Top 10 most-awaited movies in India on the basis of the ticket booking platform, BookMyShow. But now we’re back with a fresh list of the buzziest and most awaited films in the Indian film industry for the rest of 2022.
For those who don’t know, ticketing website BookMyShow displays the number of ‘Interests’ each film has garnered on the platform. Audiences show their preferences for upcoming films by clicking the “interested” button for a film on the upcoming films section in BookMyShow. The most popular films generate the most ‘Interests’, which helps us understand which are the most buzzing movies coming up in Indian cinema.
For most of 2021 and the first half of 2022, the Top 10 list was dominated by films from the South. Valimai, RRR, KGF Chapter 2 and Vikram didn’t let any other movie get a chance to top the list of most-awaited Indian films. But today’s Top 10 list comes at a time when there’s no buzzy film coming up in the Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam film industries. Consequently, this is the first in a long time that a Bollywood film has made it to the top position of the Top 10 buzzy films in Indian cinema at the moment.
That film is Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Shamshera‘. The July release has created huge buzz with its just-launched teaser, and has racked up interests like never before. The film is certain to gain even more interests quickly in the coming days.
It is to be noted that we’ve included only Indian movies in this list of Top 10 movies. Or else, Hollywood would have dominated the list, kicking out popular Indian films. Thor: Love And Thunder has 228.3 K interests. Anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has 33 K interests. And Avatar: The Way Of Water has 50 K interests.
We’ve also included only the films releasing in 2022. Therefore, ‘Fighter’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Varisu’ and other buzzy films of 2023 are out of this list. Same goes for films that do not have a release date yet. Mammootty’s Bilal has 127.6 K interests when the film hasn’t even gone on the floors yet. So, it’s out of this list!
Interestingly, Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ have both failed to garner enough interests to make it to this list!
Here are the Top 10 most-awaited and buzziest movies in Indian cinema, based on their BookMyShow interests, along with their release dates –
10. Ramarao On Duty – July 29 – 11.2 K interests
