Top 10 Original Movies on OTT So Far in 2024!

Did you realise that half of 2024 is gone already? It went fast, we know it. Probably that’s the reason our beloved OTT platforms could not come up with many good films. Still, we have listed the Top 10 original movies on Indian OTT so far. The lack of South Indian movies hurts and we still wanna scream at the top of our lungs that OTT needs diversity.

The condition of original films is so bad on OTT that apart from the obvious #1, no film is actually “very good”. The fight was only among bad candidates but it is what it is.

1. Amar Singh Chamkila
Amar Singh Chamkila on Netflix India is not only the best OTT film of 2024 so far but it is also one of the most powerful films the Hindi film industry dared to make in the last 5-6 years. The sheer brilliance of the film is supported by unforgettable performances and heart-touching music.

Imtiaz Ali hit the bull’s eye with this film. Absolutely a gem of a movie that every cinema lover must watch.

2. Murder Mubarak
Murder Mubarak is yet again a film on Netflix India. The movie is kinda nice with a murder mystery but the huge cast doesn’t allow us to appreciate the characters.

The movie was perhaps written in a haphazard manner but Pankaj Tripathi is always there to steal your heart.

3. Sharma Jee Ki Beti
Sharma Jee Ki Beti is very predictable, and very cliched. There is practically nothing new about this movie about women. But, the story is heartwarming and it tells us some situations, some stories that we always choose to ignore.

4. Lantrani
Lantrani on ZEE5 is a movie starring Jitendra Kumar, Johnny Lever, Rajesh Awasthi and many more. It is an anthology film that tells us three different stories in the same socio-economic background.

5. Rautu Ka Raaz
Nawazuddin Siddiqui may get bad scripts but he never really disappoints as an actor. Rautu Ka Raaz on Zee5 has tons of flaws as the thrill never really puts you on the edge of the seat. However, the actor shines and so do some moments.

6. Ae Watan Mere Watan
Dharmatic Entertainment decided to make this film exclusively for Prime Video and we can see all the reasons why. The direction of the film is so bad that it could be any other man directing it. The same old world-building with no innovation whatsoever.

The performance of Sara Ali Khan is so bad that this film could have been a massive failure. At least nobody whines about failure on OTT.

7. Bhakshak
This Netflix India film is inspired by real incidents that took place in a girl’s orphanage in Muzaffarpur. The film had a massive opportunity to make it a harrowing tale but the makers simply messed up. The movie fails to impress even though it has one of the most disturbing premises to explore.

8. Maharaj
This recently released movie on Netflix India came after a lot of drama in the court. However, the critics including us panned it as soon as it was released. It deserved every bit of criticism that came its way.

The only saving grace of the film is Jaideep Ahlawat and it can be given a try because of him.

9. Dedh Bigha Zameen
We appreciate the audacity of this JioCinema film that played with the title of the legendary film Do Bigha Zameen. However, Dedh Bigha Zameen is nowhere near. This film starring Pratik Gandhi is tolerable at best.

10. Blackout
We listed 9 films that can be tolerated at the least. However, Blackout on JioCinema is an honorary mention. It is absolutely unwatchable if you are not deliberately tormenting yourself. Vikrant Massey must take a lesson and never do such a stunt again.
