Barbarian (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)

Zack Cregger’s critically acclaimed horror movie follows a woman who rents an Airbnb in a desolate Detroit neighborhood. But after reaching there, she finds out that the place was accidentally double-booked, and she reluctantly shares it with a mysterious man. The woman soon realizes that the real terror might not be her housemate but someone else inside the same house.

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities(Streaming on Netflix)

The eight-part horror anthology series has been created by Academy Award-winning Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and is based on his own short story bearing the same name.

The Black Phone (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

Helmed by Scott Derrickson, the supernatural horror movie follows a sharp 13-year-old boy Finney (Mason Thames), who is kidnapped by a psychotic child abductor and serial killer The Grabber (Ethan Hawke). The story takes an interesting turn when Finney begins to receive mysterious calls from the killer’s previous victims on a disconnected wall phone.

The Midnight Club (Streaming on Netflix)

Created by Mike Flanagan, the horror thriller series is based on Christopher Pike’s 1994 novel of the same name. The story revolves around a group of young but terminally ill patients at the Brightcliffe Hospice. They meet during midnight to tell each other scary stories and to find a way to communicate with those from beyond the grave.

Prey (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar)

Helmed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), the film revolves around a highly skilled female warrior Naru, who battles with a much more advanced alien predator in order to protect her tribe. It’s a prequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cult sci-fi action 1987 movie ‘Predator’.

Stranger Things (Streaming on Netflix)

The latest season of the sci-fi horror series follows the aftereffects of the devastating Battle of Starcourt at the Hawkins town in Indiana. The show’s young protagonists are now living separately and trying to move on in their lives. At this juncture, a long-buried, supernatural threat that connects everything, emerges on Earth and the Upside Down. The fourth season’s first volume comprising seven episodes was released on 27th May while the second volume with two episodes came out on 1st July.

X (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

Written and directed by Ti West, the film is set in the year 1979 and revolves around a bunch of young filmmakers who are trying to make an adult film in a rural region of Texas. But the story takes a U-turn after they start getting killed one by one by unlikely killers.

Archive 81 (Streaming on Netflix)

Inspired by the 2016 podcast of the same name, ‘Archive 81’ is a mystery horror series that narrates the story of an archivist who is assigned the task of reconstructing damaged videotapes which were the works of a missing filmmaker, and how he gets embroiled in an ominous cult.

Orphan: First Kill (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

It’s the prequel to the terrific psychological thriller film ‘Orphan’ starring Isabelle Fuhrman in the titular role. After successfully escaping from an asylum, Leena travels to America and assumes the identity of the missing daughter of an affluent family. There, Esther crosses paths with a determined mother who can go to any length to protect her family from the killer girl.

Shining Vale (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Lionsgate Play)

The nine-part comedy horror fantasy series revolves around a dysfunctional family who relocate to a small town in a place with a terrifying past. One of the family members Pat (Courteney Cox) begins to notice that there’s something seriously wrong with her.

Incantation (Streaming on Netflix)

Arguably the most horrifying Taiwanese horror movie and directed by Kevin Ko, the critically acclaimed film has been narrated through hand-held technique. The film’s plot revolves around a mother who is desperately trying to save her daughter from an evil curse which was started by her.

All of Us Are Dead (Streaming on Netflix)

Based on the webtoon ‘Now at Our School’, ‘All of Us Are Dead’ is a South Korean show where high school students are forced to fight a zombie outbreak in a battle for survival, in order to avoid becoming the infected creatures themselves. Killing or getting killed are the only two options left for them.

Scream (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)

The fifth instalment of the Scream film series is set twenty-five years after the brutal murders shown in the parent film. Now, a group of teenagers become the targets of a new killer who has donned the dreaded Ghostface mask.
