Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting foreign OTT films and shows such as ‘Voir’, ‘The Lighthouse’, ‘The Unforgivable’, and ‘The Expanse’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of the top five foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Stem Cell (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 13th December)
Helmed by Sicilian filmmaker Giuseppe Di Giorgio, ‘Stem Cell’ is an Italian thriller that follows the murder investigation of an expert neurosurgeon, who is brutally killed in his operating room by using his own tools. The rest of the film’s plot ostensibly revolves around the efforts of the police commissioner and his investigating team to catch the culprit in a race against time.
Old (Streaming on BookMyShow from 15th December)
Based on a graphical novel called Sandcastle, the mystery thriller film ‘Old’ has been directed by the master of twist endings M. Night Shyamalan (Director – The Sixth Sense). The movie’s plot follows a family whose vacation at a secluded beach turns out to be their worst nightmare when they somehow mysteriously begin to age at a rapid rate. It threatens to compress their whole lives into a single day.
The Hand of God (Streaming on Netflix from 15th December)
This widely acclaimed Italian drama film was selected by Italy as its official entry for the 2022 Oscars. Set in the 1980s period, the story follows a young man named Fabietto who lives with his parents in Italy’s third-largest city Naples and is a fan of football star Diego Maradona. Things take a serious turn when an unexpected tragedy strikes Fabietto’s family and the goings-on that follow.
The Witcher Season 2 (Streaming on Netflix from 17th December)
The first season of the Netflix series ‘The Witcher’ featured the charismatic Henry Cavill as ‘Geralt of Rivia’, who is a professional monster hunter with special powers. His destiny makes him cross paths with Princess Ciri and the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg as they navigate their way through a corrupt medieval fantasy world called The Continent.
Swan Song (Streaming on Apple TV Plus from 17th December)
‘Swan Song’ is an emotional sci-fi drama that is set in the near future. The film features Mahershala Ali in the role of a husband and a father. But when he is diagnosed with a terminal illness, his doctor offers him a chance to save his family from the certain misery following his impending death. Will he take the decision without even letting his family know, for their own happiness?
