Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting foreign OTT films and shows such as ‘Euphoria Season 2’, ‘Eternals’, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’, ‘Archive 81’ and Hotel Transylvania 4’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of the top foreign titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Shane (Streaming on Book My Show from 17th January)
It’s a sports documentary film based on one of the greatest cricketers of all time – the now-retired Australian leg spinner Shane Warne. It will ostensibly showcase the aspect of his life story about how he accidentally joined the game of cricket instead of football, his fame and adulation, and some aspects of his personal life as well.
How I Met Your Father (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 19th January)
It’s a spin-off to the immensely popular American sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Following a similar template, ‘How I Met Your Father’ will follow the female protagonist Sophie (played by Hilary Duff), who recounts to her son the story about how she met her father. The backstory, set in present times, would ostensibly explore Sophie and her close-knit group of friends who are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman (Streaming on Netflix from 18th January)
This is a 3-part true crime docuseries that revolves around a cunning conman who posed as a British MI5 agent and purportedly stole around a massive 1 million pounds from multiple women by manipulating them, thereby leaving a devastating trail of aggrieved families living in fear.
A Hero (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 21st January)
Helmed by well-known Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi (A Separation, The Salesman), the film ostensibly follows the protagonist Rahim who gets imprisoned for his inability to pay a debt. How he convinces his creditor to take back his complaint ostensibly forms the film’s underlying premise.
Billions Season 6 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 21st January)
The show revolves around Emmy award-winning actors Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis, who portray a ruthless U.S. Attorney Chuck Roades and a billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod, respectively, and how they use their wits and considerable resources to outsmart each other.
Ozark Season 4 (Streaming on Netflix from 21st January)
The series features Jason Bateman who portrays the role of a Chicago-based financial advisor and also stars Laura Linney, both in the lead roles. The family relocates to the Ozarks in Missouri for money laundering activities. The fourth season of the Primetime Emmy award-winning show has been divided into two parts of seven episodes each and the first part is premiering this Friday.
