Top 6 Indian Films & Series Streaming This Week on OTT

Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Ranjish Hi Sahi’, ‘Human’, ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa’, and ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.

Bhaukaal Season 2 (Streaming on MX Player from 20th January)

The series would further delve into the daredevil adventures of maverick cop Naveen Sikhera (played by Mohit Raina), who had previously dealt with the crime-ridden chaotic city of Muzzafarnagar controlled by the Shaukeen gang in the east and Dedha brothers in the west. The second season would showcase the showdown between the charismatic cop and the power-hungry Dedha brothers.

Unpaused: Naya Safar (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 21st January)

The anthology would narrate five unique stories featuring raw human emotions including love, longing, fear, and friendship and which would somehow relate to how the pandemic has changed people’s lives, thereby making us realize the value of life and emotions like never before. Directed by Nupur Asthana, Ayappa K M, Nagraj, Ruchir Arun, Shikha Makan, and Nagraj Manjule respectively, it features Shreya Dhanwanthary (Scam 1992), Priyanshu Painyuli (Mirzapur), Saqib Saleem (‘83), and Geetanjali Kulkarni (Court), amongst others.

Shyam Singha Roy (Streaming on Netflix from 21st January)

It’s a supernatural period romantic drama film that revolves around the intriguing concept of reincarnation. The film features Nani in a double role. One story is set in modern-day Hyderabad where he plays a film director, and the other story is set in 1970s Bengal where he is portrayed as a revolutionary writer called Shyam Singha Roy. How these two timelines relate to each other is the film’s crux.

Akhanda (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 21st January)

Helmed by Boyapati Srinu, the Telugu language action-drama features Nandamuri Balakrishna in dual roles of a well-intentioned man Murali and that of an Aghora Akhanda bestowed with supernatural powers, who is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. In actuality, these two are long-lost twin brothers who eventually reunite to fight against evil.

Bhoothakaalam (Streaming on SonyLIV from 21st January)

The film features veteran actress Revathy and Shane Nigam as a mother-son duo grieving over the recent death of a family member. The unemployed son begins to experience a supernatural presence in his house which affects his perception of reality and his sanity.

What the Folks Season 4 (Streaming on YouTube from 22nd January)

A Dice Media’s creation, the fourth and final season of ‘What the Folks’ will start streaming this weekend. The show is a family comedy-drama that revolves around a modern-day married couple and how they deal with their respective in-laws and their relationship.
