Top 8 Must Watch Malayalam Movies To Stream On Valentine’s Day!

By Binged Bureau - Feb 14, 2021 @ 11:02 am

Most of the movies on this list will already be part of our previous “To Watch” or “Must Watch” lists. And this repetition is for good reason – these movies were made to be watched during those days (or for the reason it was mentioned). So check out these must watch 8 Malayalam Movies to binge on this Valentine’s Day:

Thattathin Marayathu

Thattathin Marayathu

Vinod is madly in love with a young Muslim woman, Aisha. Aisha, who gradually falls in love with Vinod, is disappointed by their difference in religion which is acting as a barrier in their marriage plans. This beautiful movie can be watched on Amazon Prime Video.

Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha

Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha

Unlike most other Malayalam movies in this list, Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha is slightly dark, and talks about some ongoing situations in current Indian marriages. Sleevachan, a farmer who gets uncomfortable around women, gets married to Rincy, upon his relatives’ insistence. On the advice of his friends, he gets drunk one night and rapes her, causing her to leave him. This critical hit is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Kappela

Kappela

Despite Kappela made into this list of movies to be watched on Valentine’s Day, it by no means is a love story, at least, the whole movie is not. There are instances of love, yes, but the movie explores a much deeper situation that plagues many individuals, particularly women, in this country. Jessy, a young woman, falls in love with a man after dialling his number by mistake. However, when she visits his city to meet him, a stranger named Roy enters her life. This is the only movie in this list that is currently streaming on Netflix.

Ennu Ninte Moideen

Ennu Ninte Moideen

This tragic love story is based on a real life true story. Set in the 60s -70s, Moideen, a Muslim, and Kanchanamala, a Hindu, are in love. After facing numerous setbacks they unite after a long time, only to become victims of a hapless fate. This movie can be watched on Disney+ Hotstar.

Ustad Hotel

Ustad Hotel

This feel good movie is not only about conventional love, but about love in general – passion for one’s job, love of family and friends. Faizi, an aspiring chef, returns to his hometown in India from Switzerland, when he fails to receive support from his father. He tries to fulfil his dream by helping his grandfather, Kareem, by helping him to run his hotel. Check out this Dulquer Salman feature on Disney+ Hotstar.

Bangalore Days

Bangalore Days

This movie is for anyone who loves the city life and talks about finding love in unexpected places. Cousins Divya, Kuttan and Arjun, fulfil their childhood dream of relocating to Bangalore. As they embrace all that the city has to offer, they also face challenges that transform their lives which allows them to grow as people. This feel good movie can be watched on Disney+Hotstar.

Thoovanathumbikal

Thoovanathumbikal

A love triangle of a different kind, Thoovanathumbikal was a movie ahead of its time. It follows Mohanlal’s character, Jayakrishnan who leads a dual life – one in his home and village, the other among his friends in the town he stays. He meets two women who each see one side of him and they fall for him. How will they react when they see his other side? Check this 1987 movie on Disney+ Hotstar.

Premam

Premam

We all knew this movie was coming, especially if you know what the title of the movie means (Love). While George’s first love turns out to be a disappointment, he finds love in another woman, Malar, a college lecturer. His romantic journey takes him through several stages, eventually giving him much needed purpose in life. Stream this brilliant film on Amazon Prime Video.

These eight movies explore many different kinds of love and each exploration is a celebration. Check out these movies, especially the day after tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day.
