Despite Kappela made into this list of movies to be watched on Valentine’s Day, it by no means is a love story, at least, the whole movie is not. There are instances of love, yes, but the movie explores a much deeper situation that plagues many individuals, particularly women, in this country. Jessy, a young woman, falls in love with a man after dialling his number by mistake. However, when she visits his city to meet him, a stranger named Roy enters her life. This is the only movie in this list that is currently streaming on Netflix.
Ennu Ninte Moideen
This tragic love story is based on a real life true story. Set in the 60s -70s, Moideen, a Muslim, and Kanchanamala, a Hindu, are in love. After facing numerous setbacks they unite after a long time, only to become victims of a hapless fate. This movie can be watched on Disney+ Hotstar.
This feel good movie is not only about conventional love, but about love in general – passion for one’s job, love of family and friends. Faizi, an aspiring chef, returns to his hometown in India from Switzerland, when he fails to receive support from his father.
