Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘12th Man’, ‘Panchayat S2’, ‘RRR’, ‘Acharya’, and ‘Zombivli’, to name a few.
Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.
Toolsidas Junior (Streaming on Netflix from 23rd May)
Set in 1990s Calcutta, the sports drama follows the story of a teenage boy named Midi (Varun Buddhadev), who decides to revive his father’s (Rajiv Kapoor) lost glory after the latter loses in an important snooker tournament. To fulfill his ambitious dream, he takes the help of former snooker champ Mohd Salaam (Sanjay Dutt).
The Miniaturist of Junagadh (Streaming on YouTube from 25th May)
The film features veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and Rasika Duggal, amongst others. Set amidst the backdrop of the partition, the film is about an old miniature painter (played by Naseeruddin Shah), who is forced to sell his ancestral home in India and move to Karachi along with his family.
Attack (Streaming on Zee5 from 27th May)
Helmed by Lakshya Raj Anand in his feature film directorial debut, the movie features John Abraham in the role of an Army man Arjun Shergill, who suffers a brutal injury after a terrorist attack which also kills his lover. Later, the hopeless hero gets the chance of a lifetime when he is offered to enlist for a government program that would transform him to become India’s first cybertronic humanoid super soldier to fight terrorists.
Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 27th May)
Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the romantic dramedy film features Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha in the lead roles. The story revolves around the character of Rambo, who lives a dual life as a cab driver and a bouncer. Things take an interesting turn when he simultaneously falls in love with two women Khatija and Kanmani and he must make a choice between the two.
Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi (Streaming on SonyLIV from 27th May)
The series revolves around the titular protagonist Nirmal Pathak (played by Vaibhav Tatwawadi), who returns to his village from his big city life. He learns that the people there still possess an orthodox set of beliefs. Now, it is up to him to decide whether to ignore and carry on with his urban life or take the initiative and tackle several social injustices that still exist in his native place.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (Non-Rent Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 27th May – TBA)
It’s the second installment of Prashanth Neel’s 2018 directorial film K.G.F: Chapter 1’. Kannada star Yash reprises his role as the top-notch assassin Rocky who masqueraded as a laborer in the titular Kolar Gold Fields in the first film. The sequel showcases Rocky’s story arc as the new KGF boss and his fight against a formidable adversary and the government. KGF-2 also features Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist Adheera, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam (Streaming on Aha Video from 27th May)
The film’s plot revolves around a 30-plus man named Arjun (played by Vishwak Sen), who runs a money lending business and wants to get married but is unable to find a bride. After some time, he finally gets engaged to a pretty woman named Madhavi (Ruksaar Dhillon). But his happiness is short-lived when the bride suddenly goes missing.
