Top Institute ICAI Offended Over a Mere Netflix Series!

ICAI or Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is a professional accounting body in India. It is supposed to set up accounting standards and regulate the professionals.

There is a popular saying among the youth that by the time one becomes a CA, he or she is already a senior citizen. This is because the examination demands extreme levels of passion and dedication.

With such a level of competition, the body must be serious. No?

No.

It is so free, so short on work that it got offended by a Netflix India series. Let’s explain. Netflix India recently dropped the trailer of Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper. In the trailer, we could see the protagonist who is a brilliant CA but provides sexual services to lonely women. Pretty much like a male sex worker.

ICAI got offended and decided to file an FIR against Netflix India as they are tarnishing the image of CAs. Quite heroically, CA Dr Rohit Ruwatia Agarwal posted about the legal action on Twitter.

Students fired at him with genuine questions as the body is not functioning the way it should for the benefit of the students.

The question arises, how come bodies like ICAI get offended so easily? In 1000s of films we have seen Hindu priests, police officers etc playing absolutely evil characters. If every professional is so touchy then what will be the fate of art?

Will there be any profession left to draw characters upon? This is absolutely ridiculous step and ICAI is just giving reasons to be made fun of.

We don’t know what the series is like, but one can try to not be a snowflake.
