Top Tamil directors Mani Ratnam and Shankar have come together to launch their very own production house. The production house has been named “Rain On Films Pvt Ltd”, with Ratnam and Shankar joint directors in the company. Directors AR Murugadoss, Vetrimaaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Vasantabalan, among others, will also be associated with the new production company.
The distinguished directors have come together to form the new production house with an aim to produce quality content, both for the theatres as well as for OTT platforms, that is at par with foreign content. The directors plan to produce theatrical and OTT films, and web series under the new banner. Indian audiences are ripe to accept innovative content, be it on the big screen or in the digital realm. The stupendous success of the Mani Ratnam-produced Netflix film ‘Navarasa’ is a case in point. It is hence the perfect time to launch a production house geared to produce novel content. With these talented names attached to the company, it is bound to generate impressive numbers.
The first project planned under the new entity Rain On Films Pvt Ltd is a feature film, to be directed by rising director, Lokesh Kanagaraj, who’s earlier directed hit films, Kaithi, Maanagaram and Master. No other cast and crew has been announced for the new film. Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently working on his ambitious venture ‘Vikram’, starring a spectacular cast of Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, among others.
