Total Number of Seasons Revealed for ‘House of the Dragon’ Series

The widely acclaimed ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’ recently premiered its eighth episode, which became the show’s highest rated episode until now on IMDb. Season-1 has been set as a ten-episode series, so just two episodes remain to be aired on HBO Max and in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform.

For diehard fans of the ‘House of the Dragon’ series who are curious about exactly how many seasons the series would have, George R. R. Martin, author of the riveting source material, has made a revelation through his personal blog. The eminent writer has revealed that ‘House of the Dragon’ is going to take four full seasons to do justice to the source material ‘Dance of the Dragons’ (from the book ‘Fire & Blood’).

This means that after Season-1, ‘House of the Dragon’ will have three more seasons of ten episodes each with an expected runtime of one hour per episode. You might be aware that the makers had already renewed the show for a second season within a week after its premiere.

Another interesting ‘musing’ by George R. R. Martin on the same blog post is that he thinks that Paddy Considine, the actor who has essayed the role of King Viserys in ‘House of the Dragon’ Season-1, is worthy of an Emmy award for his splendid performance in Episode-8 alone. And we totally agree with that. Paddy Considine has hit the ball out of the park in the show’s latest episode. A new benchmark in the history of small-screen performances indeed.

The ‘House of the Dragon’ series is based on some segments of George R. R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel ‘Fire & Blood’ and the goings-on takes place around two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and revolves around the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. ‘House of the Dragon’ Season-1 will conclude on 24th October on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
