Trailer Out For New Netflix Film, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar

Netflix has just revealed the first full-fledged trailer for its upcoming Wes Anderson film, ‘The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar’. The short film premieres on Netflix worldwide on 27th September, 2023.

The 40-minute film ‘The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar’ is part of a slate of four short films that auteur Wes Anderson has created for Netflix. The four films are adaptations of four of Roald Dahl’s short stories.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar premiered at the Venice International Film Festival this year, and received rave reviews from critics at Venice. It currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film centres on a rich man named Henry Sugar, who loves gambling. When he learns about a guru who can see without using his eyes, he sets out to master the skill in order to cheat at gambling.

The film stars Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley and Richard Ayoade in pivotal roles. The trailer of The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar is psychedelic and delicately coloured, exactly in Wes Anderson’s trademark style. The stellar filmmaker has adapted the story in a bold and unpredictable way — with the cast reciting Roald Dahl’s words directly to the audience while acting them out, and set pieces cycling in and out as if in a stage play.
