ZEE5 has just dropped the trailer and release date for its next original series, ‘Abar Proloy’. The series is in the Bengali language and marks the OTT debut of well-known Bengali filmmaker, Raj Chakraborty. Going by the trailer of ‘Abar Proloy’, it should be an intriguing watch. The murder mystery detective series premieres on ZEE5 on 11th August, 2023.
‘Abar Proloy‘ is a sequel of the well-loved Bengali film, ‘Proloy’. The series takes the story forward in a similar vein. ‘Abar Proloy’ brings back the popular character of police officer Animesh Dutta, played by Saswata Chatterjee both in the movie and in the series.
Besides Saswata Chatterjee, ‘Abar Proloy’ stars Gaurav Chakrabarty, Paran Bandopadhyay, Ritwick Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee and June Maliah in pivotal roles. The series is produced and directed by Raj Chakraborty, and co-produced by Subhashree Ganguly.
The ten-episode series will center on Animesh Dutta, as he is sent to the Sunderbans to get to the bottom of the human trafficking racket, run by a deadly mastermind. As minor girls are increasingly trafficked out of the region, Animesh must face-off against mastermind Kanu (Gaurav Chakraborty), godman Shambhu Babu (Ritwick Chakraborty) and the deceptive Mohini Maa (Koushani Mukherjee).
