Amazon Prime Video‘s upcoming Original film Durgavati may have changed to Durgamati, but the intrigue remains the same. The Akshay Kumar, T-Series and Vikram Malhotra produced film releases on Amazon Prime Video on 11th December. The trailer, which has just dropped on social media, gives ample glimpse into the intriguing plot line of Durgamati.
Bhumi Pednekar is Chanchal Chauhan, apparently a chink in the armour of people’s politician, Ishwari Prasad (Arshad Warsi). She has some information that can cause the downfall of Ishwari. The government official Chanchal is bundled off to Durgamati Mansion for interrogation, an abandoned mansion that is described at the very beginning of the trailer as a place where nobody returns from.
And then begins an orgy of terror, unleashed by the spirit of Durgamati that haunts the eponymous mansion, and soon possesses Chanchal. Details about Durgamati’s past are kept undisclosed in the trailer, except that she’s thirsty for revenge and justice. Her journey will only be revealed once the film premieres on Amazon Prime Video.
The visuals in the almost 3 minute Durgamati trailer will curdle the blood of the staunchest of horror enthusiasts. Several goosebump-inducing shots raise the thrill quotient of the trailer. The Durgamati trailer indicates that the film will be a great addition to the horror genre – unique, creative and worth watching.
Durgamati seems to be a Bhumi Pednekar show all the way. Arshad Warsi impresses as well, with his enigmatic Ishwari Prasad. Mahie Gill and Jisshu Sengupta play police officers who are itching to get Ishwari Prasad out of the way. The film has been written and directed by G. Ashok, who had also written and directed its Telugu original, Bhaagamathie. What’s mighty interesting to Bhaagamathie fans is how well will Bhumi Pednekar match up to Anushka Shetty’s superb turn in the original.
