Trailer Talk: Amazon’s Bheemasena Nalamaharaja Is A Story About Healing, Love And Food

By Binged Bureau - Oct 21, 2020 @ 12:10 pm

When the teaser for Amazon’s latest Telugu flick, Bheemasena Nalamaharaja had dropped a little over 24 hours earlier, we were expecting a movie about food, centered around the bond between a father and a daughter. After featuring various shots of food that would be worthy enough to make an entrance in movies like ‘Chef’, ‘Ustad Hotel’ or ‘Eat Drink Man Woman’, along with the inclusion of the young daughter’s voiceover about the similarities between cooking and poetry, the teaser gave us an innocent, almost child-like vibe.

But the trailer tells us a whole ‘nother story. The short video starts off with a young aspiring writer, who decides to go on a journey to expand her knowledge and to get inspiration to write. She stays at a remote resort called Nadi Moola Resort for the majority of the time period, hopefully to gain some inner perspective and for soul searching.

She reaches the resort, and eats the food she ordered – a biryani. Surprised by it’s familiarity and savouring the food, she goes to the chef to commend him on his food and express her gratitude. But the chef says that he doesn’t want it, as the last time a woman thanked him for his food, she changed his life forever. The writer follows this up with an obvious – “How?”

From this point on, the story is from the chef’s perspective. A classic love story with some non-traditional elements. A young girl grew up eating food prepared by her father. A strict yet fair man, all the father ever cared was for his daughter to have a good life. She meets a poor, yet talented chef (our new narrator), whose food reminds her of her father. After growing up, her father prepares to get her married. But she goes against her father’s choice for a groom and marries the young chef who changed her heart through his food.

They live a happy life and eventually the young woman becomes pregnant. During the day of the delivery, she meets with an accident, causing her to lose her memory. The young mother after giving birth loses everything she ever knew (in memories) and after not recognizing the man she loves, she experiences psychological trauma and distances herself from her immediate family.

And that is the crux of the plot. We will find out more once the film drops later this month. The film is directed by Karthik Saragur with Aravinnd Iyer, Arohi Narayan, Priyanka Thimmesh, Achyuth Kumar and Vijay Chendoor starring in this movie, in prominent roles. According to the director, the film will be based on the six resas – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent, and there will be six characters who will represent each rasa.

Bheemasena Nalmaharaja is set to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 29th October 2020. Watch the trailer for this feature down below:
