Netflix has just released the trailer for the upcoming Season 2 of its edgy and avant-garde science fiction show Altered Carbon.
The new season sees the entry of actor Anthony Mackie, better known as Falcon from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Takeshi Kovacs, the soldier of sorts called Envoy, from Season 1, enters another sleeve in Season 2, thus allowing the makers to bring in a new actor to take over the role. That new actor happens to be Mackie.
Season 1 had two actors portraying Kovacs — Will Yun Lee as the ‘original’ Kovacs, and Joel Kinnaman as the new sleeve for Kovacs, to enable him to time travel 200 years into the future.
In Season 2, Kovacs fast-tracks his hunt for his long-lost love, Quellcrist Falconer, whom he’d met and fallen in love with when training as an Envoy. The new Kovacs sleeve can do so much more – attract objects by telekinesis, heal itself in super quick time, super fast reactiveness and much more. Quick cuts and lucid imagery in the trailer give ample evidence of Kovacs’ new powers.
His search for Quell and his latest mission to solve several brutal murders will take Kovacs back to his home planet, Harlan’s World, the planet he grew up on. Will he finally succeed in his multiple missions? We’ll just have to wait for the season to drop, to find out.
Altered Carbon Season 2 streams on Netflix from 27th February.
