The Breathe Into The Shadows trailer is out, and this time, the sequel to the edgy web series Breathe, delves into the mind of a psycho criminal. Abhishek Bachchan takes the place of R Madhavan from the first season, as the primary protagonist-antagonist. He plays a psychiatrist Avinash Sabharwal, whose little daughter Siya is kidnapped by a chillingly unhinged criminal.
As ransom for freeing for his daughter, the kidnapper wants Avinash to commit a few murders, but with ‘lust and anger’ as the driving force behind the murders. Nithya Menen, of Mission Mangal fame, plays his wife Abha. The couple is shattered by the kidnapping of their tiny daughter. When Abha comments that the kidnapper is playing weird mind games with them, Avinash comments that as a psychiatrist, he’s best placed to understand the kidnapper’s mind games.
The first murder committed by Avinash brings hard-nosed police inspector Kabir Sawant into the picture – and Amit Sadh makes his explosive entry into the narrative as the primary investigator of the murder, and the subsequent ones. Meanwhile, the more murders he commits, the more Avinash is hounded by the fact that he’s taken human lives.
One thing that intrigues in the trailer is the fact that Amit Sadh’s Kabir Sawant is shown being released from jail. Another sequence shows him fobbing off attackers while he’s incarcerated in jail. Breathe Season 1 had not shown Kabir landing up in jail at the end of the season. So then, what gives?
All said and done, Breathe Into The Shadows seems even more compelling than Breathe Season 1, which is saying a lot, considering Breathe S1 was gripping as hell. Mayank Sharma returns as the director, while Vikram Tuli has written this season again, along with Mayank Sharma, Bhavani Iyer and Arshad Syed.
Breathe Into The Shadows stars Abhishek Bachchan, Amit Sadh, Nithya Menen, Saiyami Kher, Ivana Kaur, Plabita Borthakur and Hrishikesh Joshi in pivotal roles.
