Netflix dropped in the trailer for Bobby Deol starrer “Class of ’83” and we can say that this gritty action cop drama brings out Bobby Deol’s intense side quite effectively.
The trailer begins with the backdrop of 1983 then-Bombay and how the city was sitting on a pile of gunpowder about to be blown off. We later see young trainees being grilled and trained at the Police Training Centre, Nashik.
Dean Vijay Singh (Bobby Deol) who has been demoted to an academy job wants to create a special squad for Bombay Police where they will have the authority to encounter gangsters without the restriction of jurisdiction. He hopes to fight police corruption and underworld with his squad.
He starts training Varde, Khan, Shukla, Surve and Jadhav and tells them about the key members of Kalsekar’s gang who need to be killed. The trailer then displays how the police system has two sides, law and order. And sometimes to destroy the evil and protect the good, law needs to broken in order to maintain the order.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s students discover something about him and find themselves conflicted with concepts such as honour and devotion. A lot of gunshots are heard and seen throughout the trailer giving a glimpse of the intense police action in the film.
Will Vijay Singh be able to seek his revenge or will the fire he ignites burn his own house down remains to be seen. Based on the book by Sayyed Yunus Hussain Zaidi of the same name, Class Of ’83 will premier on Netflix on 21st August 2020.
Directed by Atul Sabharwal the film is made under Red Chillies Entertainment banner and also stars Annup Soni, Joy Sengupta, Ninad Mahajani, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Bhupendra Jadawat, Sameer Paranjape, Hitesh Bhojraj and Prithvik Pratap.
