Sex Education Season 2 is slated to drop on Netflix on 17th January, much to the delight of its legions of ardent fans. And its trailer that has just been released piques viewers’ interest to a crescendo.
We fell in love with the socially awkward teenager, Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), whom we were introduced to in the first season of Netflix’s Sex Education. When the virgin Otis, even as he’s grappling with his own developing sexual urges—or the lack of them—sets up his sex advice clinic in school with good friend Maeve (Emma Mackey), we were intrigued. And when the show dealt with Otis’ best friend Eric Effiong’s (Ncuti Gatwa) alternate sexuality with super-sensitive humour, we were well and truly hooked.
The trailer of Season 2 opens with the Principal of Moordale Secondary organising a sex education session in the school auditorium. As the kids get ready to be addressed by a clinical sex therapist, in walks Otis’ sex therapist mother Jean (Gillian Anderson), much to his mortification. The ball is set rolling right there for a rollicking ride.
Season 2 also introduces us to new love interests for both Otis and Eric. Otis is dating Ola (Patricia Allison), and Eric lusts after the new French boy in school. Otis also develops sexual urges (finally!), but his love life suffers a setback when he finds out that his girl’s dad is dating his mom (uh oh).
Finally, the school is hit by an outbreak of Chlamydia (jeez!), thus forcing the Principal to organise the aforementioned sex education session.
This season promises to have all the humour and fun of the first season, with additional plots thrown into the mix. We’re already treated to several howlarious lines in the trailer, and can’t wait for the season to drop.
Sex Education is written and created by Laurie Nunn. All episodes of Season 2 will stream on Netflix on January 17.
