The series continues in the tradition of its predecessor seasons, and spins a compelling web of mystery and intrigue around the latest crime that Byomkesh has to get to the bottom of.
The frames are steeped in sepia tones to depict the period drama it aims to be, set in the time of
30s and 40s India. The vintage backdrop adds to the feeling of being transported to a different era. The music, edgy and melancholic, lends mystique and enigma to the proceedings.
Anirban Bhattacharya breathes life into the character of Byomkesh, and Ridhima Ghosh, as Byomkesh Bakshi’s wife, plays the perfect foil to his quirkiness and intellect. Suprobhat Das as his trusted aide Ajit. The Bengali web series has been directed by Soumik Halder.
Byomkesh is based on the works of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The detective, who likes to call himself satyanveshi, or seeker of the truth, is back to enamour fans with his sharp truth-seeking skills.
Byomkesh, Season 5, premieres on Hoichoi TV on 10th January 2020.
