‘Equinox‘ on Netflix is the second Danish Original series whose trailer has been released by Netflix today. The show is based on the acclaimed podcast Equinox 1985 by Tea Lindeburg. ‘Equinox’ will premiere on Netflix globally on 30th December, 2020.
The trailer begins in the year 1999 where a nine-year old Astrid and her father are seen bidding good-bye to her sister Ida as she goes on a trip with her 21 classmates who all mysteriously disappear. Moments after that we see Astrid becoming traumatized and plagued by horrific visions after her sister’s disappearance.
In the next scene the trailer jumps 21 years ahead to 2020 where Astrid is all grown up and now hosts a late-night radio show but all of a sudden her nightmares reappear. In the trailer a recorded interview can be seen where someone, probably an investigating officer, is asking three young people about what happened on the day the children disappeared and none of them seemed to have any plausible answer.
When Astrid receives a call from one of the survivors from the 1999 incident who mysteriously dies shortly after, she takes it upon herself to find the truth about the disappearance of her sister and her class. In the process she discovers a dark and unsettling truth that involves her in ways she never imagined.
The trailer is intense, dark and edgy, involving a lot of time-bending mysteries that will get unravelled throughout the six-part series. There even comes a point where it gets difficult for Astrid to figure out if it is all real or just part of her imagination.
As per Netflix, ‘Equinox’ “is a character-driven supernatural thriller about a young woman named Astrid (Danica Curcic), who is very affected by the unexplainable disappearance of her sister and her school class in 1999. The series is set in Denmark and swipes back and forth between 1999, where it all started, and the present time.”
‘Equinox’ stars Danica Curcic, Alexandre Willaume and Lars Brygmann in the lead and has been written for Netflix by creator Tea Lindeburg. The first four episodes of the series have been directed by Søren Balle.
The second Netflix Danish original series ‘Equinox’ has been produced by Apple Tree Productions’ Dorthe Riis Lauridsen and executive produced by its CEO Piv Bernth.
‘Equinox’ will launch worldwide only on Netflix on 30th December, 2020.
