Netflix has just dropped the trailer of Jamtara: Sabka Number Aayega, its first collab with the content creation company, Viacom. The Netflix Original series takes an all-encompassing look at the phishing industry that has become entrenched in the villages of Jharkhand, with almost all these villages located in the specific district of Jamtara. A cursory glance through Google will tell you that Jamtara has become the phishing capital of the country, with more than 80% of online frauds originating here.
The intriguing reality of this place lends itself perfectly to the creation of a gripping crime drama. And that’s what Netflix‘s Jamtara: Sabka Number Aayega is all about. Directed by National Award-winning director, Soumendra Padhi, the series spins a web of greed, deceit and murder around the cyber crime industry of Jamtara.
What starts as small-scale crimes by some youngsters soon explodes into a larger and sinister full-blown criminal ring, with proven crime-lords joining in to help themselves to a slice of the phishing pie, and even guns and murders thrown into the mix. All this is shown in devastating detail in the trailer, giving viewers a definite idea of what to expect from the series.
The frames appear dark and menacing, each steeped in grim, edgy quick cuts that send a frisson of fear up your spine. Amit Sial and Dibyendu Bhattacharya are the two recognizable faces in the cast. The rest of the cast is made up of relative unknowns.
Jamtara: Sabka Number Aayega is another one in the true crime genre, quite the rage in internet content these days.
Jamtara: Sabka Number Aayega premieres on Netflix on 10th January 2020.
