Dark comedy series Hasmukh is one of the most eagerly awaited shows on Netflix. And viewers will be happy to know that Netflix has just revealed the trailer and release date for Hasmukh today. The show is all set to release on 17th April. As for the trailer, it gives a good hint of what viewers can expect from the series once it releases.
Vir Das plays a small-time stand-up comic in Saharanpur, but with big ambitions. He wants to become the top comic of the country, but there’s just one hitch. He’s got terrible comic timing and stage presence, though the material he writes is good.
Vir Das’ look in Hasmukh is perfectly styled to convey a small town, upwardly mobile comic with a terrible secret to hide — the man must murder to get his adrenaline pumping on stage, and to pull off sparkling stand-up acts – just like viagra, as his manager, played by Ranvir Shorey, tells him.
Ranvir Shorey comes across as the perfect ally for Hasmukh – the yin to his yang. He coerces Hasmukh to keep on murdering if he wants to rise to the top of the comedy world. The duo preys on the criminals to assuage their guilt of killing.
The trailer promises a series that is compelling and fast-paced, and of course, decidedly different.
Hasmukh has been written by Vir Das, Nikhil Advani, Nikhil Gonsalves and Suparn Verma, and directed by Nikhil Gonsalves. Nikhil Advani is also the show-runner for Hasmukh, while Applause Entertainment has produced the show.
Hasmukh will premiere on Netflix on 17th April 2020. Have a glimpse of the trailer here –
