&Pictures has just dropped the trailer of its first &Pictures Original Movie, titled, ‘Foot Fairy‘. And going by the trailer, it looks like &Pictures has a winner on its hands. The movie is a taut serial killer suspense mystery and thriller, with an eclectic cast of Gulshan Devaiah, Kunal Roy Kapur and Sagarika Ghatge.
&Pictures is seeking to kick off a novel trend in the film industry – that of straight to TV movie releases – a concept similar to the trending straight to digital releases. Only difference is that, instead of an OTT platform, the movie will release directly on television instead of cinema theatres. So, Foot Fairy is scheduled to premiere directly on TV – on the company’s own &TV channel, on 24th October.
A series of murders have rocked the city in recent days. The intriguing thing about the killings is that all the murders are of young women, happen in isolated places, but sexually assault is not the motive. The killer, instead, chops off the feet of the women and takes them away with him. He calls himself the ‘Foot Fairy’, leaving behind the boldly scrawled words on the bodies of his victims.
Gulshan Devaiah plays a driven police officer, determined to get to the bottom of the case and nab the killer. All clues point to the character played by Kunal Roy Kapur to be the serial killer. But is he really the killer, or is the police being led on a wild goose chase by the killer? Sagarika Ghatge, who had impressed much in Chak De India, plays the police officer’s girlfriend.
The trailer of Foot Fairy whizzes past with edgy montages of the cold and calculated killings, and the cat and mouse chase between the law and the law-breaker. At first glance, the movie seems to be a taut, edge-of-the-seat thriller, and a must watch. There’s a twist in the end, and we can’t wait to find out what it is!
Foot Fairy has been written and directed by Kanishk Varma, and produced by Nitin Upadhyaya and &Pictures. The movie will first premiere on &TV on 24th October, after which it will stream on Netflix around a week or so later.
